God is so amazing. ❤️
Isa 43:19 – Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Many times, you will hear people say, “Remember the good ole days?” Have you ever paid attention to the things they say? Maybe it’s something you do from time to time. I think this usually happens when we run into old friends, maybe you visit an old city you once lived in, or maybe just times of reminiscing. You may have good memories, some bad, some mischievous ways, or maybe you don’t even realize you have done this.
I can’t help but think about some of the talks I’ve had with my little girls, I can remember a time where I started paying attention to the way they would talk, they would use slang language, and I would ask them what some of the words were, and we began to laugh and so there it goes, “The good ole days” talk. I started to talk about some of the words I would say and we just laughed. Today, I think about these words and I wonder why I even mentioned some. I surely wouldn’t want my girls picking up on certain words or ways that are similar to my old ways. I desire that they speak respectfully and act modestly. Honestly I love their little personalities, I love just the way they are!
I chose the picture above because it reminds me of the example that I so desire to set for them. It was a time that I chose to be obedient to Gods calling even though I felt inadequate, He certainly equips those that He calls. I hope that they will do all of the things that God calls them to do in life. It also reminds me of our bond and it makes me think of this verse:
Proverbs 31:25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
There is certainly a time for laughing, I enjoyed every bit of our sweet moment but also it was a time for teaching. You see, I talked that way back in the day because it’s what was in, it was a way of life for all the people I would spend most of my time with. We talked and walked this way to sound cool, to look cool and it was just plain silly. I didn’t know that how immature I was because I was so young and didn’t have many adults in my life. The adults I knew, were busy working or busy with life in general.
Anyhow, I love God’s word and especially the verse listed above, it makes me think about how He teaches us and shows us a much better way. He matures us too, if we allow Him. We can mature spiritually too, as we read and study His Word, which never changes!
Let’s zoom into the above verse, right before it says, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.” Isaiah is speaking prophetically to the Israelites, and speaking in regards to the things they did, God still speaks to us through His word today, God wants to do a new thing in us. Sometimes if we dwell on the past too much, and sometimes if we keep looking back, it can discourage us, or hinder us from the very thing God wants to do in us. We would be so wise not to look back on those days that we spent fulfilling the lusts of the flesh.
Galatians 5:24 – And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
My encouragement to you is that if you find yourselves looking back, I hope it’s to remember what He has done for you, what He has taken you out of or how He has grown and matured you.
I hope you find yourselves praising and thanking Him for all that He has done. As we walk forward with Him and in Him, by His Spirit, we will see the wonderful work He continues to do and how He makes us new.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
In Christ’s Love,
Mary
