Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
The lamp
I was just thinking about this verse. The first thing that came to my mind is, the lamp. It is used in dark or dim places, depending on what type of lamp it may have different settings/oil so you could let off only a little light, or maybe a little more but it’s just what you need to help you to get where you need to go. As you walk in dark places the light can help protect you from falling over something.
The Word
Then I think about Gods Holy Word! It sounds so similar, doesn’t it? In this verse it says that the Word is a lamp unto my feet! Wow, isn’t this beautiful? The more we tune in, the more clearly we see, but it’s just enough to see where we are going. Imagine if we knew what was ahead in our lives, we probably wouldn’t take another step. I think about the verse that says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God! Each time we take a step, each time we do what God’s word says we are walking by faith. As we walk by faith we allow His Word to be that lamp unto our feet that guides us, that lights our path.
Treasure
God has given us such a treasure within a treasure. The entire Bible is all about Jesus, the light of the world!
Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
All these wonderful things make my heart glad. As I’m in His Word this morning, just thinking on this verse, I can’t help but share more of His Word!
Encouragement
I encourage you today, shine His light wherever you go, so that others might not stumble in this dark world.
