Today, I was talking with my husband about a few things. These are the words I wholeheartedly confessed, “I didn’t realize how much I made food my idol.” Tears streamed down my face. I don’t know if my husband could tell I was crying, but I knew he was listening.
God First
God had given me peace the night before going to lunch with friends. I was was wrestling with it because I wanted to stay far away from anything that had to do with eating.
He Gives Us So Much Wisdom!
So as I talked with God the night before my lunch date, I realized a few things, just because you are going to a restaurant to eat, which has so many food options, doesn’t mean you have to order it. Whatever I decided to order, and whatever I would not finish eating, I could just let it be. It’s okay and I did not need to bring it home, unless I wanted to.
Lies
Sometimes we believe lies, that we need to finish it, or perhaps we’ve spent the money, so I might as well just eat it or we allow our flesh to take over, it’s just so good I want it all!
Planning Ahead
I decided ahead of time that I would choose a healthier option. So I ordered a side of steamed veggies. One thing God revealed to me, is to truly be thankful for that meal. So I purposed in my heart to be thankful. Instead of focusing on the food, I focused on fellowship and it was a sweet time.
Can you believe I could have missed out on such a wonderful opportunity with my daughter and great friends? Sometimes we can allow fear to keep us from what God would have us do. There is a verse that I love and hide deep within my heart.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
God is perfect and He is love and as we go to Him, fear is casts out. He will give us wisdom for each day. I needed to spend time with God and I am glad that I did!
He gives us peace and rest in Him and as we bring these fears or struggles to Him, He help us!
Reflection
One thing that He has been showing me lately is that some things are only done by prayer, so I will continue steadfastly in prayer!
Maybe you have a stronghold in your life? I would encourage you to go to Him in prayer. I am so thankful for my Father in heaven. As you spend time with Him you will hear Him.
Encouragement
Come away with me, He says!
Songs 2:10 My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away.
God you are so amazing thank you for always helping me. Thank you for days like these that are filled with good fellowship and laughter. Thank you for your faithfulness. Amen!
